1.Special materials can be processed.Material Powder metallurgy methods can produce refractory metals as well as compounds,pseudoalloys,and porous materials.
2.Save metal and reduce cost.Because POWDER metallurgy can be pressed into the final size of the billet,there is no need to use mechanical processing.The loss of metal in this way is only 1-5%,compared with 80%in ordinary processing.
3.Making high purity materials.Powder metallurgy processes do not melt materials during the material production process,so that they will not be mixed with impurities brought by other substances,and sintering is carried out in a vacuum and reducing atmosphere,without fear of oxidation and without any pollution of materials.So the purity of the product is relatively high.

Disadvantages of powder metallurgy process
1.Poor strength and toughness of powder metallurgy products.Due to the powder pressed billet,its internal pores can not be completely eliminated,therefore,powder metallurgy products in strength and toughness compared with the corresponding components of castings,forgings.
2.Powder metallurgy cannot be made into large products.Since the metal powder is less fluid than the metal liquid,its shape and size are limited,and its weight will not exceed 10 kg.
3.High die cost.Because of the high cost of die making,it is only suitable for mass production.
