Cermet cemented carbide is a kind of or more refractory carbide powder(such as WC,TiC,etc.)and adhesive(cobalt, nickel, etc.)mixed, pressure molding, and then sintered powder metallurgy materials,it is similar to ceramic sintering, hence the name.
Cermet cemented carbide is widely used in three types:
(1)Tungsten cobalt(YG)alloy is sintered from WC and cobalt powder. The most widely used brands are YG3,YG6,YG8 and so on.The number after YG represents the cobalt content, such as YG6,which represents the tungsten-cobalt type cemented carbide with w(Co)of 6%and W(WC)of 94%.The higher the cobalt content is,the better the toughness is,but the hardness and wear resistance decrease slightly.Class YG carbide tools are suitable for processing brittle materials such as cast iron.
(2)Tungsten,titanium,cobalt(YT)alloy is sintered from WC,TiC and Cobalt powder. The most widely used brands are YT5,YT15,YT30,etc.,where"YT"stands for tungstum-titanium-cobalt type cemented carbide, and the following number stands for TiC content. For example,YT15 indicates that W(TiC)is 15%,and other tungsten-titanium-cobalt hard alloys are WC and cobalt.YT alloy has a high hardness and good wear resistance and thermal hardness,YT carbide tool suitable for processing plastic materials(such as steel).
(3)Tungsten cobalt-tantalum(YW)alloy is sintered from TaC(tantalum carbide),TiC,WC powder and cobalt adhesive. The commonly used grades are YW1 and YW2.The Numbers in the grades represent serial Numbers. The larger the number is,the higher the cobalt content in cemented carbide is.
YG cemented carbide has good toughness;YT carbide hot and hard good;YW carbide performance is more comprehensive,YG and YT carbide advantages of both, suitable for a variety of USES,not only can cut cast iron, but also can cut high toughness high manganese steel, stainless steel, heat resistant steel,so it is called"universal hard alloy".
Due to its high hardness and brittleness, cermet carbide cannot be machined, nor can it be made into the complex shape of the whole tool,so this kind of cemented carbide is often made into a certain specification of the blade inserted and welded on the tool body or die for use.
In addition, cermet carbide is widely used as cutting tools, but also used to make measuring tools, molds and other wear-resisting parts,in mining, coal mining, petroleum, geological drilling and other industries, but also used to make drill bit and drill bit.
There are many grades of cemented carbide. In practical application, cemented carbide blades can be selected according to the processing mode, the nature of the processed material and the processing conditions.
